Gamma, a leading provider of location intelligence and risk assessment technologies, today announces a collaboration with MGAM, an Acrisure partner and industry leader transforming the insurance market, to support the Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities (DLUHC) in the UK in the delivery of professional indemnity (PI) insurance scheme for EWS1 assessors.

This partnership serves as part of Gamma’s ongoing growth strategy and international expansion, tying in with the company’s aim to become the leading provider of location risk solutions in the UK insurance sector.

Gamma is helping to support the government-backed professional indemnity scheme rolled out by MGAM which provides the cover for external wall system (EWS1) fire review certificate assessors.

Gamma has developed a Technical Assurance Platform (TAP) which enables MGAM and the Department to better manage, access, share and utilise data regarding fire assessments. The platform includes Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) and documentation extraction processes to streamline and automate procedures allowing improved and faster access to relevant documentation including External Wall System Fire Review certificates (EWS1 certificates).

Jason Anthony, Chief Executive Officer, MGAM, said: “Fire safety is an incredibly important aspect of building assessment and insurance, so having this platform is invaluable. Not only was it delivered within a tight timeframe and within budget, but Gamma has created something that went above and beyond of what was expected. They have exceeded both our needs and those of the Department, with the ability to fulfil future requirements enabling us to adapt, scale and thrive.

We have a long-standing relationship with Gamma, having previously rolled out a customised version of their Perilfinder™ risk assessment platform to assist with underwriting visualisation, and we knew they’d be able to deliver again on this project.”

Richard Garry, Chief Commercial Officer, Gamma, added: “Working on projects such as this, where technology can transform how organisations do business and how specific industries operate, is what we pride ourselves on. Our great relationship with MGAM is only getting started and we look forward to driving further innovation, and growth, into the future.”

Speaking previously about the PI insurance scheme in September 2022 when he held the position of Minster of DLUHC, Paul Scully – the current Parliamentary Under Secretary of State at the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport – said: “For far too long leaseholders in high rise buildings have been stuck in limbo, unable to secure mortgages on their properties, sell up and move on to their next step. It is for these leaseholders that we have launched this new indemnity scheme today and I thank our partners for helping make this a reality. This scheme will give EWS1 assessors the confidence to exercise their professional judgement, speed up the sale of flats and allow lenders to lend with confidence.”
